No. 34 Men's Tennis Takes on South Carolina, Hosts Charlotte, UNCG
RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s tennis team earned it’s highest ranking of the season, a national ranking of 34, entering this weekend’s matches. The Wolfpack will travel to No. 49 South Carolina on Friday, Feb. 20, and will return home to Raleigh for a double-header. NC State will face Charlotte at 12 p.m. and UNC Greensboro at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 in the JW Isenhour Tennis Center.
NC State is currently 4-4 on the season, including a 4-3 win over then-No. 14 Michigan. The Gamecocks are 7-1, the 49ers are 3-1, and UNC Greensboro is 3-1 on the season. The Pack holds a 19-1 series record over Charlotte, and leads the Spartans 11-1 all-time. South Carolina leads NC State 15-29.
Senior Jay Weinacker is currently ranked No. 89 in singles, and senior Christian Welte moved up in the rankings to No. 91. Weinacker and his doubles partner, freshman Jaime Pulgar, cracked the doubles rankings at No. 38. South Carolina has one ranked singles player, Diego Cubas, who is at No. 97.
