Wolfpack Opens 2014 ACC Men's Tennis Championships Thursday

RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 26 NC State men's tennis team will begin the 2014 ACC Men's Tennis Championships Thursday, April 24 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. The Wolfpack will be the sixth-seed in the tournament and will face Georgia Tech in the opening round set for Thursday at 3 p.m.
State enters the ACC Championships as winners of five of its previous six matches, including upset victories against Notre Dame and Wake Forest. In its most previous match, the Pack used earned three singles victories in a decisive third set to claim a 4-3 win against the 25th-ranked Demon Deacons.
Georgia Tech, the Wolfpack's first-round opponent, enters Thursday's match as the 11th-seed. The Yellow Jackets finished the regular season with a 7-14 overall record and a 1-10 ledger in the ACC standings. During the regular season, the Pack defeated the Yellow Jackets in Raleigh, 6-1.
The winner of the Georgia Tech and NC State match is scheduled to face No. 3 seed North Carolina on Friday, April 25 at 3 p.m.
Last season at the ACC Men's Tennis Championships, the Pack dropped its quarterfinal match against Clemson, 4-2.
This season marks the sixth consecutive year that the ACC Men's Tennis Championships have been held at Cary Tennis Park.
