NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship Selections

INDIANAPOLIS - NC State senior Dave Thomson and junior Sean Weber have been selected to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Doubles Championship, announced by the NCAA.

The doubles competition will be held May 23-27 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill., following the conclusion of the team championship, which convenes from May 16-21. The University of Illinois at Champaign will serve as the host.

For tournament purposes, all matches will be the best of three sets with regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games apiece will be used for all matches. During the regular season, doubles competition was decided by an eight-game pro set.

Thomson and Weber are the first Wolfpack doubles pair to make the field of 32 since 2008 when Nick Cavaday and Jay Weinacker received a bid to the championship.

NC State's top-ranked doubles duo of Thomson and Weber are 19-10 on the season, which includes a 13-7 mark in dual matches. The pair is currently ranked 15th in the latest ITA doubles rankings.

During the season, the tandem faced 12 ranked opponents and claimed wins over seven of them, highlighted by an 8-4 upset win over then eighth-ranked Kosta Blank and Chris Cooprider of UNCW on Feb. 23 at home. The duo only lost two matches in the months of February and March, compiling a 10-2 record in that span.
