Rollinson Wins First Two at UNCW Invitational
Wilmington, N.C. - Four members of the NC State men's tennis team traveled to compete in the UNC Wilmington Fall Invitational.
Will Rollinson took the court against Christopher Mack of North Carolina Central, winning 6-0, 6-1. He then went on to defeat Luka Stanic of Winthrop, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. David Chermak opened the tournament, taking down Thomas Darling of Elon 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Following the match, Chermak lost to Kosta Blank of UNC Wilmington, 6-1, 6-3.
Fernando Banos lost a close match to Sergey Belov of Winthrop, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(3). Akash Gujarati was defeated by Nadav Ruppin of Winthrop, 6-3, 6-1. He moved onto the consolation bracket, beating Jack Waissen of North Carolina Central, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles competition, Chermak and Rollinson lost to Guy Kubi and Ruppin of Winthrop, 8-2. They will compete in the consolation round on Saturday, while Banos and Gujarati will play their first doubles match.
The Wolfpack will continue play tomorrow.
