    World Team Trials Preview

    Two current and one former members of the NC State wrestling team will be traveling to Stillwater, Okla., this weekend to compete in the U.S. World Team Trials.

    Claimed a seventh place finish and All-America honors at 120 KG at the 2013 U.S. Senior Nationals ... Was the seventh seed entering the competition ... Advanced to the U.S. World Team Trials ... Finished third in the challenge tournament, just one spot shy of making the USA World Team ... Started with a 9-0 technical fall win over 2012 and 2013 NCAA heavyweight champion Tony Nelson of Minnesota ... After advancing with the win, fell to another NCAA champion, Zach Rey, 5-2 ... Came right back and recorded two more victories to conclude his run ... First, he scored a 9-1 technical fall over former Wisconsin All-American, Kyle Massey ... In the third place match, once again defeated the reigning two-time NCAA champion, Tony Nelson, this time, 6-4.

    2012-13: Redshirted the season ... Competed in four open tournaments ... Posted a record of 20-1 at 285 pounds, winning three and taking third in his four tournaments ... Won the Hokie Open, Wolfpack Open and Penn State Open and was third at Southern Scuffle ... Had 11 pins, two technical fall win, and two major decision victories ... Only loss was 4-1 to #1 Anthony Nelson of Minnesota ... Won the Hokie Open going 5-0 and defeating #10 Adam Chalfant by pin in the championship ... Went 5-0 in the Wolfpack Open, with four pins and one major decision victory ... Also 5-0 in Penn State Open, recording three pins and a 12-1 major decision in finals ... Racked up three wins over ranked opponents in bringing home third place at Southern Scuffle ... Also won the National Collegiate Open at 285 pounds in February ... He earned two falls and a major decision to advance to the finals, where he captured a medical default win after he held a 6-2 lead.

    2011-12 at Binghamton: Finished 8th at the 2012 NCAA championships to claim All-America Honors ... Compiled a record of 30-9, including five wins at the NCAA championships ... Won the 2012 CAA Conference Tournament at heavyweight ... Named 2012 CAA Rookie of the Year ... Won the 2011 Binghamton Open after posting a 4-0 mark ... Named 2012 NWCA Academic All- American.

    Prep: Ranked as the top heavyweight recruit in the nation ... Top- ranked wrestler in the state of New York, received the Dave Schultz ... Ranked as the 19th overall recruit in the nation (any weight) ... Two- time New York State Champion ... Posted a 50-0 record in his senior season and no opponent finished the match; 43 pins and seven forfeits ... Won the Junior Wade Schalles Award, given to the wrestler with the most pins in the country ... Two- time team captain ... Career record of 199- 24 ... Wrestled at Duanesburg High School ... Honor Roll student.
