RALEIGH, N.C. -- Darrius Little and Matt Nereim got pins for NC State, but Virginia won eight of 10 bouts to take a 33-12 victory in the Wolfpack's Atlantic Coast Conference opener.

NC State dropped to 3-3 overall, 0-1 in the conference. The Cavaliers improved to 4-1 and 1-1.

In the first match of the evening, 20th-ranked 125-pounder Coltin Fought of the Wolfpack took down 11th-ranked Matt Snyder of Virginia just 17 seconds into the bout and rode him for the remainder of the first period, but Snyder took control in the second period and easily controlled the remainder of the match. Snyder took a 6-2 lead with a pair of near falls in the second period, then made it a 13-2 major decision with a takedown and two more near falls in the third.

The win lifted Little to 24-9 for the season and was the 88th victory of his career.

The Wolfpack took a 12-8 lead on Matt Nereim's sudden and stunning pin of Gus Sako at 149 pounds. Sako took Nereim down in the opening seconds of the match and immediately tlited him for a near fall. With another near fall and a point for stalling on Nereim, Sako led 10-0 after the first period, and then began the second period with an escape and a takedown, putting him within two points of a technical fall. Just when it appeared over, Nereim got a reversal a minute and a half into the period, then threw Sako to his back, pinning him at 5:16.

The Cavaliers got back in the win column at 157, tying the match at 12-12 on Jedd Moore's 12-3 major decision over Colton Palmer. Moore had a takedown, a reversal and a near fall.

After a brief intermission, Virginia's Nick Sulzer, ranked No. 15 at 165 pounds, put the Cavaliers ahead 16-12 with a 12-4 major decision over Nijel Jones.
