Chapel Hill, N.C. -
The NC State wrestling team picked up wins at 157 pounds and 285 pounds, but it was not enough as the Wolfpack fell at ACC rival North Carolina Friday night, 30-6.
The dual meet started at 125 pounds with the Pack’s Joe DeAngelo against Nathan Kraisser, who is ranked sixth nationally. DeAngelo started with an early takedown and was up 2-0 after the first period. Kraisser evened the score, but DeAngelo scored an escaped to retake the lead 3-2. Kraisser scored another takedown late in the second period, and controlled the final period for an 8-3 win.
UNC increased its lead to 6-0 with a close win at 133 pounds. No. 18 Joey Ward and freshman Sam Speno went into overtime after both captured an escape point, but Ward recorded a sudden decision takedown to earn a 3-1 win.
