Wrestling Falls in Home Finale to Duke

The NC State wrestling team fell to Duke in its home finale Wednesday night, 22-9. The Blue Devils won seven of the 10 matches on the evening, with the Wolfpack picking up wins at 125, 141 and 285 pounds.
The dual meet started at 165 pounds, and Duke won the first four matches.
NC State freshman Mike Kosoy picked up the Pack's first win of the night, a 5-3 decision over Brian Self. Kosoy has won four of his last five bouts for the Wolfpack.
Duke held a 13-2 lead at the intermission, after each team was deducted one point for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Pack came out of intermission with junior Joe DeAngelo scoring a 12-3 major decision at 125 pounds over Tanner Hough.
The two teams then traded shutout decisions, with Duke's No. 27 Brandon Gambucci downing the Pack's Sam Speno, 5-0, at 133 pounds. The Pack's Tyler Hunt answered at 141 pounds, with a 6-0 decision to pull the Pack closer at 16-9 with two bouts left.
Duke clinched the dual meet at 149 pounds, with Marcus Cain gaining an 8-4 decision over Thomas Gantt. The Blue Devils also picked up a win at the 157-pound weight class as Immanuel Kerr-Brown defeated State's Matt Nereim, 11-10 to end the meet.
The Pack will next compete at the 2013 ACC Championships, held March 9 in College Park, Md., with the University of Maryland serving as the host. The NCAA Championships are March 21-23 in Des Moines, Iowa.
