    Wrestling to Host Wolfpack Open Sunday

    RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State wrestling team will be in home action this weekend, hosting the Wolfpack Open on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Carmichael Gymnasium. Matches will begin at 9 a.m.
     
    The Wolfpack Open will feature most of the top college wrestling programs in the Southeast, with more than 250 wrestlers competing in the 10 weight classifications.

    A total of 14 teams will be represented, including ACC foes Duke, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

    Live results and complete brackets will be available here starting on Sunday morning.

    Here is a full list of NC State wrestlers that will be in action this weekend:

    Shayne Brady (Fr., Carthage, N.Y.) – 184 pounds. Won the New York D1 state championship at 182 pounds as a senior. Posted a 32-1 record as a senior, and finished his high school career with more than 200 career wins.

    Marshall Brown (Fr., Watkinsville, Ga.) – 125 pounds. Was the runner-up at the Georgia 3A state championships at both 106 and 113 pounds during his high school career. Finished his career with a 217-51 record, including 65-4 as a senior.

    Brenden Calas (Fr., Clark, N.J.) – 125 pounds. Was a three-time finalist and two-time state champion in high school. Ranked No. 10 recruit nationally at 120 pounds by Wrestling USA Magazine.

    Dylan Ceravalo (Fr., Charles Town, W. Va.) – 165 pounds. Was the West Virginia state champion at 140 pounds in 2011. Finished his high school career 188-29, the eighth-most wins in West Virginia history.

    Bill Cook (RS-So., Ballston Spa, N.Y.) – 197 pounds. Joined the Pack for the Spring 2013 semester. Was the Pack’s starter at 197 pounds last year, and recorded wins against VMI and Davidson in dual matches.

    Lee Davis (RS-Fr., Powder Springs, Ga.) – 197 pounds. Placed fourth at the Pembroke Classic last weekend. Attended Mercer College last year, where he played football.

    Cohl Fulk (RS-Fr., Mount Pleasant, N.C.) – 149 pounds. Redshirted last season. Earned All-America honors at the 2013 ASICS Junior Nationals at 66 KG this past summer.

    Thomas Gantt (Jr., Cahokia, Ill.) – 157 pounds. Claimed a second place finish and All-America honors at 70 KG at the 2013 ASICS Junior Nationals this past summer. Finished third at the 2013 ACC Championships at 149 pounds..

    Nick Gwiazdowski (RS-Soph., Delanson, N.Y.) – 285 pounds. Redshirted last season after earning all-america honors at Binghamton as a freshman in 2012. Claimed a seventh place finish and All-America honors at 120 KG at the 2013 U.S. Senior Nationals this past summer. Ranked No. 3 this week at 285 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News.

    Brian Hamann (Fr., Jackson, N.J.) – 149 pounds. Placed fifth at 138 pounds at the 2013 New Jersey state championships. Was fourth at 126 pounds at the 2012 state championships, and was also fourth at 103 pounds at the 2011 state championships.

    KaRonne Jones (RS-Sr., Fayetteville, N.C.) – 197 pounds. Redshirted last season. In 2012, collected 18 wins on the season, including five against ACC opponents.

    Nijel Jones (Sr., Asheville, N.C.) – 165 pounds. An NCAA Qualifier at 165 pounds last year, was an at-large selection. Led the Pack with 27 total wins last season, including seven pins and five technical fall victories. Also, brought home a first place showing at the Reno Tournament of Champions.

    Michael Macchiavello (Fr., Monroe, N.C.) – 184 pounds. The 2013 North Carolina state 4A champion at 182 pounds, he was 61-1 as a senior. Placed third at the 2012 state championships at 182 pounds.

    Micah Perez (Fr., El Centro, Calif.) – 125 pounds. Brought home first place at the Pembroke Classic last weekend. Placed third at 115 pounds at the state championships as a senior.

    Pete Renda (Fr., Topton, Pa.) – 174 pounds. Was the Pennsylvania 2A state champion at 170 pounds as a senior. Ranked the No. 5 recruit nationally at 170 pounds by flowrestling.org.

    Max Rohskopf (Fr. Killbuck, Ohio) – 149 pounds. Finished third at the state championships as a senior. Ranked the No. 28 recruit nationally at 138 pounds by Wrestling USA Magazine.

    Sam Speno (So., Mount Kisco, N.Y.) – 141 pounds. A 2013 NCAA Qualifier at 133 pounds and earned an automatic bid. Finished 16-14 on the year, including 5-5 in dual matches. Brought home a third place finish at the Reno Tournament of Champions.

    Chris Wilkes (Fr., Troy, Mo.) – 133 pounds. Ranked the No. 10 recruit nationally at 132 pounds by Wrestling USA Magazine. Was the Missouri state champion at 138 pounds as a senior.

    Unattached wrestlers

    Mikey Amorando (Fr., New Fairfield, Conn.) – 165 pounds. Placed second at the Pembroke Classic last weekend. Was a two-time Class M Connecticut state champion and 2013 New England champion. Finished his career with a 132-18 record, including 32-1 as a senior.

    Jake DeAngelo (Fr., Burlington, N.C.) – 141 pounds. The 2013 North Carolina 4A state champion at 132 pounds, went undefeated with a 53-0 record. Placed third at the 2012 state championships at 126 pounds and third in 2011 at 109 pounds.

    Joe DeAngelo (Sr., Burlington, N.C.) – 125 pounds. Brought home first place at the Hokie Open last weekend, and finished second at The Citadel Open the week prior. A 2013 NCAA Qualifier at 125 pounds and earned an automatic bid. Joined the Pack for the Spring 2013 semester. Pack’s starter at 125 pounds, finished with a record of 8-9, including 6-5 in dual matches and was 3-5 against ACC foes.

    Beau Donahue (Fr., Centreville, Va.) – 149 pounds. A three-time state champion during his high school career, as a senior finished first at 145 pounds. Recorded 204 wins during his high school career.

    Mike Kosoy (So., Boca Raton, Fla.) – 285 pounds. Finished second at the Hokie Open last weekend, and brought home a first place finish at The Citadel Open the week prior. Pack’s starter at 285 pounds last year, finished the season with a 20-18 record. Tied as the Pack’s highest finisher at the ACC Championships, claiming third place with a 3-1 record.

    Chad Pyke (Fr., McDonough, Ga.) – 157 pounds. Placed second at The Citadel Open two weeks ago. Finished his high school career 329-19, establishing a national record for most career wins. Was a 2013 and 2012 Georgia state champion.

    Peter Santos (Fr., Antelope, Calif.) – 165 pounds. Finished fifth at the Hokie Open last weekend. The 2013 California state champion at 170 pounds. Brought home a first place finish at the 2012 Las Vegas Freak Show at 170 pounds.

    Rodney Shepard (Fr., Durham, N.C.) – 157 pounds. 2013 North Carolina 4A state champion at 152 pounds, posted a 60-1 mark as a senior. Placed second at the 2012 state championships at 152 pounds and was fifth at 140 pounds in 2011.

    Randy Shine (Fr., Lake Geneva, Wisc.) – 149 pounds. As a senior, was conference champion and regional champion. Posted a 35-1 record as a senior.
