Glenda has worked in the medical field in Wake County for 24 years. She has been with NCSU Athletics in her current position as the Sports Medicine Administrative Coordinator for 16 years and has been nominated for the Chancellor's University Award for Excellence twice - 2004 and 2013. In 2013 she was chosen as one of five employees at the University level out of 47 employees nominated to go on to the State Level for the Governor's Award. Glenda facilitates off campus medical services for over 550 student-athletes working with their primary insurance providers to best suit the needs of the student-athletes.
Glenda also gives of herself to the community. She has long served as Guardian ad Litem for a developmentally disabled adult, enabling her to live on her own and hold a job with the same employer in Wake County for 19 years. Glenda serves as a Facilitator for an Alzheimer's Support Group to provide support to those caring for loved ones afflicted with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Glenda is a notary and volunteers with Hospice of Wake County to provide notary service for those unable to leave their home. She also volunteers annually on the Tour D'Coop of Raleigh, which highlights urban chicken coops in and around Raleigh serving as a fund raiser for Urban Ministries. In 2013, $24,000 was raised by the Tour D'Coop. This year Glenda was chosen as a board member for The Center for Volunteer Caregiving.
Glenda has been married to Greg May since 1979 and they reside in Raleigh. She has two adult children and two beautiful grand-daughters as well as 10 backyard chickens.
