RALEIGH, N.C. - Propelled by its best defensive effort of the year, NC State recorded a one-sided 74-27 victory over Presbyterian College Thursday at Reynolds Coliseum.

Freshman Breezy Williams helped the Wolfpack (5-6) topple the Blue Hose (2-6) by contributing a career-high 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting and six rebounds in her first collegiate start.

Marissa Kastanek delivered 13 points in only 17 minutes of play thanks to a 4-of-6 shooting night that included a 2-of-3 clip from three-point range.

Bonae Holston and Devin Griffin led NC State on the glass with nine rebounds each. Holston added 10 points, leaving her one board shy of a double-double despite being limited to 14 minutes of action.

Griffin played 28 minutes in her first-career start, coming away with five points and two steals.

Amber White scored 12 points on the evening by going 4-of-5 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line to become the fourth Pack player in double figures on the game.

The Wolfpack enjoyed its widest margin of victory since a similar 47-point, 76-29 victory over North Carolina A&T in 2004.

NC State’s defense held Presbyterian to 27 points, allowing zero players in double figures. The 27-point total is the lowest since the Wolfpack held UP-Mayaguez to 24 in 2003.

The Wolfpack came out of the locker room with a 42-13 lead, and did not let up, pushing the lead to 67-17 at the 12:48 mark thanks to a 25-4 run to jumpstart the second half.

The lead grew all the way to 51, 74-23, after a free throw from Williams with 6:02 to play.
NC State opened the game on a 12-0 run, holding Presbyterian scoreless until the 15:55 mark.

Presbyterian closed the gap to 13-7 at 14:38, before NC State strung together a 29-6 run to close out the half.

NC State heads west to take part in the Beach Classic in Long Beach, Calif. The Wolfpack will take on Florida A&M on Monday, and host Long Beach State on Tuesday. Both games are scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, and can be heard in Raleigh on 88.1 FM WKNC, and online at
