NC State Women's Basketball Ranked No. 20 in Latest AP Poll
Jan. 6, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. - Following a 67-61 win over then-No. 20 Syracuse Sunday afternoon to open the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference schedule, the NC State women's basketball team (14-1, 1-0 ACC) was ranked 20th in the country on Monday in the latest Associated Press Top-25 poll.
Off to the best start since the 1999-00 team began the year 14-1, State has seen great success under the leadership of new head coach Wes Moore and his staff. The Wolfpack has defeated two top-20 teams (LSU and Syracuse), has won eight straight games, and has posted an average victory margin of 22.1 points per game.
Today's ranking marks the first time that the Wolfpack has been ranked in the AP poll since March of 2007, when State ended the 2006-07 season ranked No. 18 with a 25-10 record. It also marks the 327th week in program history during which the Pack has been a part of the AP Top-25 rankings.
NC State is next in action on Thursday at nationally-ranked North Carolina. The Wolfpack and Tar Heels will tip off from Carmichael Arena beginning at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
