RALEIGH N.C. - The seventh annual Hoops 4 Hope women's basketball game at NC State has added a performance by Scotty McCreery to its lineup of activities. Hoops 4 Hope is Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Reynolds Coliseum.
NC State hosts ACC rival Wake Forest. Game time is 5 p.m., and will be televised on ESPN2. Doors open at 3pm.
Since winning Season Ten of American Idol in May, Scotty McCreery has quickly emerged as one of the most successful country stars of the last year. His debut album, Clear As Day, was certified platinum for sales of more than 1 million units in just three months, and he was recently named No. 1 on Billboard magazine's list of Top New Country Artists for 2011. He also won New Artist of the Year at the American Country Awards in December.
Clear As Day debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and Top Country Albums charts, making him the youngest man in history to open at the top of the all-genre chart with a debut release. It also garnered the highest sales of any country solo album released last year and held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for six weeks. The album's first single, "I Love You This Big," has also been certified gold. His current single, "The Trouble With Girls," is approaching gold status as well.
He is currently touring the nation as part of Brad Paisley's "Virtual Reality Tour 2012" presented by Chevrolet. The lifelong Wolfpack fan and Triangle area native has agreed to take a break from the tour to join in the celebration of the survivors.
General Admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth 17 and under. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. To purchase tickets visit GoPack.com or call the ticket office at 1-800-310-PACK.

The Hoops 4 Hope Event, started by Hall of Fame Coach Kay Yow, is designed to bring awareness and hope in the fight against breast cancer.
A celebration at halftime will be highlighted by recognition of Breast Cancer Survivors as Scotty McCreery will sing a special tribute to those survivors in attendance. It is important that survivors register through the website link at the bottom of the page to participate in the recognition.
