TOWSON, Md. - For the third straight season, senior forward Kody Burke of the No. 14 NC State women's basketball team (22-4, 9-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) has been named a Capital One Academic All-American, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.

This season, Burke (3.93 GPA in business administration) earned first team honors by the organization after being named to the third team during the 2012-13 and 2011-12 seasons. Burke is just the third NC State women's basketball player to earn the prestigious honor of being named to the first team, joining Marissa Kastanek (2013) and Jennifer Howard (1996 and 1997).

She is the only ACC student-athlete represented on the women's first or second teams.

Burke is in the final year of a stellar career with the Wolfpack. Within NC State's record books, Burke ranks second with 188 career blocks, 10th with 787 career rebounds, tied for 12th with 125 games played, and 16th with 1,494 career points.

Her senior season has been her most productive, as she is currently averaging 15 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field. She has scored in double figures during 22 of State's 26 games this season while frequently leading the team in points (eight times) and rebounding (10 times).

Burke and No. 14 NC State return to action this evening at No. 7 Duke. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and Blue Devils is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
