RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State hosts Virginia in the regular-season home finale on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Wolfpack will honor senior Marissa Kastanek in her last game at Reynolds Coliseum in a brief ceremony before tipoff.
Kastanek has enjoyed an outstanding four-year career with NC State. She is 10 points shy of 1,600 for her career, and moved into second place on the school's three-point list last Sunday with 231 made treys. That figure is also 14th in ACC history, and the second most among active players in the league.
The final week of the regular season begins with a visit from the Cavaliers, before a Sunday afternoon road tilt at Clemson to cap off the regular season. Virginia stood tall at home in the first meeting between the two clubs, earning a 78-59 win on Jan. 13 in Charlottesville.
Kody Burke (19 points) and Kastanek (17 points) led the way for the Pack that afternoon. Kelsie Wolfe, who scored a game-high 24 points for Virginia, suffered a season-ending knee injury against Maryland on Feb. 17. Ataira Franklin and Telia McCall added 15 points for the Cavaliers.
NC State continues to thrive from three-point land, sitting second in the ACC in both made three-pointers (162) and three-point percentage (35.5). Conversely, Virginia is making just 29.8 percent from downtown this year with 110 makes from beyond the arc.
Franklin leads Virginia in scoring at 13.7 points per game, the only active player on the roster in double figures.
