ATLANTA - Following one of the great seasons in the 40-year history of the NC State women's basketball team, senior center Markeisha Gatling has been named among the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) All-Region nominees for the 2014 Division I Coaches' All-America Team.
Gatling is one of 52 student athletes from across the country receiving regional consideration. The selection committee will then choose the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team from these candidates. The final team will be announced at 2:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 5, during the NCAA Women's Final Four Saturday festivities in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
The 6-foot-5 center from Raleigh is one of just seven athletes selected from Region Two. She is joined in the region by Tricia Liston (Duke), Natasha Howard (Florida State), Alyssa Thomas (Maryland), Kayla McBride and Jewell Loyd (Notre Dame), and Dearica Hamby (Wake Forest).
