A win Tuesday night would snap a two-game setback for the Wolfpack after dropping consecutive road games at Alabama and Richmond last week. Scoring has not been the problem so far in 2010-11. In fact, the team has scored 70 or more points in the first four games of a season for the first time since 1992-93.
Defense is what has lacked for Kellie Harper's crew in the early portion of the campaign, having given up 95 and 81 points to the Crimson Tide and Spiders, respectively.
The Wolfpack can boast to be one of only three ACC clubs, along with Boston College and Miami, to have three different players score 20 or more points in a game this year. Sophomore Marissa Kastanek notched a career-high 25 points against Alabama. The Lincoln, Neb., native is third in the ACC with a 19.5 points per game scoring average.
In fifth place among the league's scoring leaders is senior Amber White. The Coatesville, Pa., native is averaging 18.0 ppg, and was named the ACC Player of the Week last Monday after scoring a career-best 29 points last Saturday in a win over Creighton.
Newport News, Va., native Bonae Holston rounds out the trio, averaging 12.3 points and a team-topping 9.5 rebounds per game. She scored a season-high 20 points in the win over College of Charleston, and has two double-doubles in four games.
Old Dominion takes to the road for the first time in 2010-11 after opening up the season with a pair of home wins. ODU knocked off ACC foe Georgia Tech, 65-63, and also defeated North Carolina A&T.
A balanced scoring attack is led by Tia Lewis (13.0 ppg). Alena Voronina, Jasmine Parker and Jackie Cook are all averaging between 11.0 and 12.5 ppg.
NC State turns around Wednesday morning and flies to Reno, Nev., to participate in the Nugget Classic. NC State will take on Nevada on Friday at 4 p.m. ET, and then face either Minnesota or San Diego State on Saturday.
