GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State senior forward Bonae Holston earned 2011-12 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 18.
Holston averaged 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week for NC State. The Newport News, Va., native had 15 points and seven rebounds in a 66-59 victory over No. 20/18 Vanderbilt on Sunday. She sealed the win with a pair of free throws with 23 seconds left that gave the Wolfpack a five-point lead at the time.
Holston also contributed a season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season, and the 21st in her career, in a loss to Richmond on Thursday. She also had three steals against the Spiders.
Additionally, Holston jumped one spot to 19th on the school's all-time scoring chart with 1,334 points, passing Angie Armstrong (1980-83), during the victory over Vanderbilt.
State is back in action at the Pepsi Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii from Dec. 28-30. The Pack will take on Florida Gulf Coast, Alcorn State and Hawaii on consecutive days in the tournament.
