Dec. 30, 2013
SAN DIEGO – Currently on a 12-1 start to the 2013-14 season and a few hours away from playing San Diego State in the championship game of the 2013 Surf ‘N Slam Tournament, the NC State women’s basketball team increased its vote count in the AP Top-25 Poll from 22 to 27 on Monday.
Monday, Dec. 30 marked the beginning of the second straight week during which the Wolfpack received votes in the poll. NC State was the third highest non-ranked vote recipient in the poll with 27. Of the teams falling just outside the top 25, only Arkansas (49) and San Diego (33) earned more votes.
All of NC State’s 12 wins this season have been by at least ten points and the team is averaging 21.8 more points per game than its opponents throughout the first 13 games of the campaign.
Following tonight’s championship game against San Diego State, the Wolfpack will open Atlantic Coast Conference play at home against nationally-ranked Syracuse on Sunday, Jan. 5. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and Orange is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum.
