    Marchand Still In The Hunt After Second Round In Puerto Rico

    Lady Puerto Rico Classic - 2nd Round

    RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Brittany Marchand (-1) is tied for fifth after 36 holes at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. NC State is tied with Iowa State for fifth in the teams standings at +18.

    After posting a 71 in the first round, Marchand reached even par on the second day at the Rio Mar Country Club. The senior is tied with four other players with a 36-hole score of 143. Marchand is four shots behind current leader Aurora Kan of Purdue.

    "I was just trying to grind out pars," Marchand said.

    Augusta James (+3) carded a round of 74 and is tied with three other players for 19th in the 81-player field. After shooting a 78 in the first round, Ana Menendez improved to 72 on the second day.

    "I managed my game well," Menendez said. "I worked on my chipping after the first day and it paid off."

    Caroline Ellington (158, +14) and Rachael Taylor (160, +16) rounded out the Wolfpack lineup.

    Arkansas (-5) leads the tournament, followed by GRU Augusta (+8), Northwestern (+15) and Georgia (+16). NC State and Iowa State round out the top five teams.

    NC State concludes play in Puerto Rico Tuesday, Feb. 18.
