Wolfpack Finishes Third At LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. - The NC State women's golf team placed third out of 16 teams at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic Sunday at the par 72 University Club. Lorraine Ballerano led the Wolfpack with a five-over-par total and tied for sixth place.
Ballerano, who shot par in the second round, finished one stroke ahead of teammate Ashlee Dean, who tied for ninth place. Stephanie Derrey carded a two-over second round and Nancy Mountcastle improved seven strokes from the second round to the third. Molly Birmingham led the squad after a two-over first round effort.
The host school, LSU, won the tournament with a 15-over total and Chris Brady from Vanderbilt was the individual medalist with a five-under score. NC State returns to action April 1-3 when the Wolfpack travels to Browns Summit, N.C., to compete in the Bryan National Collegiate.
