Wolfpack Surges Up Standings At #ACCWGolf Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Led by steady play by Brittany Marchand and four birdies by Lindsay McGetrick, the NC State women's golf team surged up the standings at the ACC Women's Golf Championship on Friday. The Wolfpack shot 292 (+8) on the day, the second-best round of all the teams on Friday.
Marchand shot an even-par 71 that featured one birdie and 16 pars. McGetrick (+1) fired birdies on holes 3, 4, 16 and 17. She was one-under heading into the final hole. Marchand's performance lifted her into a four-way tie for seventh in the 55-player field. McGetrick jumped to a tie for 24th overall.
"They played hard and displayed great patience," head coach Page Marsh said. "We're excited about playing tomorrow. They worked hard this afternoon and gave their best. I'm proud of their heart."
NC State opened the day in ninth place, but was just two shots out of fifth place. The Wolfpack quickly jumped in the standings, and is now just one shot behind Miami for fourth. NC State is also just three shots out of third place. Duke (+8) owns a 14-shot lead over second-place Virginia.
Duke's Cecilia Boutier (-2) is leading the tournament by three shots over Florida State's Matilda Castren.
NC State will conclude ACC tourney play Saturday at Sedgefield. Tsui will tee off first on Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m.
