Pack Qualifies For NCAA Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Three Wolfpack players carded a 69 to lead the NC State women's golf team to a berth to the 2014 NCAA Women's Golf Championship.
NC State (-4) surged to the top of the team NCAA East Regional standings after Brittany Marchand, Augusta James and Lindsay McGetrick each carded a three-under score of 69. The Wolfpack tied Duke for third place, just six shots behind South Carolina for second place.
"Our players were determined," head coach Page Marsh said. "I am so proud of them. I have had such great support and am grateful for all that has been done by so many to help make this opportunity for us."
McGetrick had a team-high six birdies while Marchand, James and Ana Menendez each carded four birdies. The Pack's Saturday team score of 280 was tied for second at the regional, tied with Duke and trailing just regional champion Vanderbilt.
In addition to NC State, the eight teams advancing to the NCAA Championship are Vanderbilt, Duke, South Carolina, Stanford, Virginia, Tulane and Campbell.
James (-5) led NC State and tied for fourth overall in the 126-player field. McGetrick (-2) was among three players tied for 15th overall and Brittany Marchand (E) tied for 22nd overall.
Menendez, who had her best round of the weekend with a 73, tied for 55th with a 54-hole score of 223. Rachael Taylor (+21) rounded out the Wolfpack lineup with a total of 227.
NC State will be among 24 teams to advance to the NCAA Women's Golf Championship May 20-23 in Tulsa, Okla.
