NORMAN, Okla. - No. 20 NC State missed out on a second-straight NCAA finals appearance by one shot after finishing ninth at the 2013 NCAA Central Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.
The Wolfpack began the day tied for ninth, and got all way up to fourth place early in Saturday's final round, before finishing with a 5-over 293 and a 54-hole total of 21-over 885.
The Wolfpack ended up one stroke behind eighth-place Michigan State in the regional. The top-8 schools advance to the NCAA Championship in Athens, Ga.
Ana Menendez fired a 2-under 70 to lead NC State on Saturday. She ended up tied for 26th at 4-over 220 with the team's low score of the tournament.
All-ACC selection Augusta James tied for 35th with a final total of 6-over 222, while Vivian Tsui shot a 1-over 73 today to climb into a tie for 50th at 8-over 224.
Brittany Marchand finished tied for 68th at 11-over 227, and Rachael Taylor was tied for 99th at 234.
Duke won the regional by six shots at 13-under 851. Host Oklahoma finished second, and unranked Mississippi State was the surprise of the tournament by finishing third at 872. The Bulldogs' Ally McDonald cruised to a five-shot win at 10-under 205 after three-straight rounds in the 60s.
