TULSA, Okla. - The NC State women's golf team had its best round of the season on Thursday, totaling a 280 (E) to make another jump up the standings at the NCAA Women's Golf Championship at the par 70 Tulsa Country Club.

Just one day after climbing 10 spots in the standings with a 284, the Wolfpack tied its season-best round of the season. The Wolfpack, 23rd on the board after the first round, is tied with Arizona and Arizona State for sixth in the 24-team event. NC State's total of 280 on Thursday tied its season best, which came in the third round of the NCAA East Regional.

Augusta James (74-70-67--211) became the eighth player to shoot a 67 in the tournament and is tied for sixth overall heading into the final day. She totaled four birdies and shot 2 under on the back 9.

"I was happy to be pretty steady today and take advantage of the shorter putts I had when I knocked it close," James said. "We have made aggressive moves forward as a team. We've improved each day and that's important."

Brittany Marchand, like James and All-ACC player, had her best round of the week with a 69. Ana Menendez shot a 71 for the second straight day and Lindsay McGetrick carded a 73.

"I'm really proud of the team. They've worked hard all year and it's great to see their effort showcased," head coach Page Marsh said. "This is who they are. They're really a great group."

Marsh felt like playing the course for the fifth time in five days has helped NC State become comfortable and make some corrections.

"They learned to be comfortable where to place it off the tee," the Wolfpack head coach said. "This designer requires you to hit toward the fairway bunker and that's not often the case. They've gotten more comfortable where to be and how to manage the wind."

NC State will tee off the final round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championship Friday afternoon at 1:26 p.m. ET. NC State will tee off on the 10th hole, playing with Arizona and Tulane.
