NC State Women's Golf Eighth After Cougar Classic Second Round
HANAHAN, S.C. – The NC State women’s golf team shot a 3-over par 291 on Monday to move into eighth place at the College of Charleston’s Cougar Classic with a 5-over par, 581 two-day total.
The Wolfpack’s top second-round performer was junior Brittany Marchand with a 2-under, par 70. Marchand had five birdies on the day, including three in her first nine holes. For the tournament, Marchand tied for 14th in the individual standings with a 1-under par, 143 two-day total.
Sophomore Augusta James carded a 2-over par, 74-performance on Monday. James is now tied for 22nd at even par after leading the Pack in Sunday’s opening round with a 2-under, 70 for a two-round total of 144.
Junior Ana Menendez and sophomore Lindsay McGetrick are in the clubhouse tied for 51st at 4-over, 148. Menendez recorded an even-par second round to follow up her 4-over par 76 on Sunday. McGetrick shot a 3-over par 75 after opening with a 1-over 73.
Senior Amanda Baker finished the day with a 7-over, 79-performance for a two-day tally of 9-over, 153 to tie for 88th.
NC State head coach Page Marsh noted that the course played similar to Sunday’s opening round with a couple of demanding hole locations.
“Through two days, they’ve stayed relaxed and fought through the rough spots in their rounds,” Marsh said.
Florida is in first place in the team standings with an 11-under, 565, followed by Southern Cal at 8-under, 568. Vanderbilt is third with a two-day score of 2-under, 574. Virginia and Auburn are tied fourth at even par, 576 with Duke and Georgia tied for sixth at 1-over, 577. Rounding out the top 10 are Alabama at 7-over, 583 for ninth and Tennessee with a two-day score of 8-over, 584.
The tournament’s final round is scheduled for Tuesday at the par-72, 6,219-yard Yeamans Hall Club.
