Wolfpack Standing Sixth After First Day In Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Augusta James scored an even-par 72 and Rachael Taylor and Vivian Tsui were one shot behind her during the first day of UNC's Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. As a team, NC State is sixth of 18 teams after Friday's first round.
James carded two birdies early and was one under par on the front nine. She was one over on the back nine to finish the day even, good for 16th of 96 players. Taylor and Tsui each turned in a round of 73. Ana Menendez (+3) carded a 75 and Brittany Marchand (+5) rounded out the Wolfpack lineup with a 77.
The Wolfpack, ranked 14th in the nation, is one of 12 nationally-ranked teams in the field. NC State (+5) is just two shots behind Auburn for third place. Vanderbilt (-3) leads the team standings, followed by Duke (-2) and Auburn (+3). Mississippi and Oklahoma are tied for fourth, just one shot ahead of NC State. Of seven ACC teams in the tournament, NC State stands second.
The Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, held at UNC's Finley Golf Course, will continue Saturday morning beginning at 9:09 a.m. NC State's players will tee off beginning at 9:54 a.m.
