    Final Results-Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Rachael Taylor capped the best tournament of her college career by firing a 72 on Sunday at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill.

Taylor (+6), a sophomore, registered the even par round of 72 after posting scores of 73 and 77 during the first two rounds. Her 54-hole score of 222 was her best mark in collegiate play. Taylor led the team for the weekend, one shot ahead of Augusta James and Vivian Tsui (+7). Taylor tied for 36th of 96 players, while James and Tsui stood 38th.

As a team, NC State (+25) placed 12th in the 18-team event. The Wolfpack did fare better than three ACC teams (Virginia, North Carolina and Notre Dame). Duke (-7) won the event, followed by Vanderbilt (+4) and Oklahoma (+7). Of the 18 teams in the field, 12 teams were nationally-ranked.

Clemson's Ashlan Ramsey (-9) was the individual medalist, totaling 68-69-70 - 207 for the weekend.

The tournament at UNC's Finley Golf Course was NC State's third of four this fall. Remaining on the schedule is the Landfall Tradition, held at Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. That event is set for Oct. 25-27 and will feature 11 nationally-ranked teams.
