Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The NC women's golf team fired a 6-over par, 294 to finish seventh at the Ruth's ChrisTar Heel Invitational on Sunday at the University of North Carolina's Finley Golf Course. The 17th-ranked Wolfpack posted a three-day total of 25-over par, 889 to earn its second consecutive top-10 finish of the fall.
NC State also finished seventh at the College of Charleston's Cougar Classic to open its fall season in September.
Senior Amanda Baker was NC State's top golfer on the day with a even-par 72. Her round included six birdies. For the tournament, she carded a three-round total of 3-over par, 219 to tie for ninth in the final individual standings.
Sophomores Lindsay McGetrick and Augusta James each recorded 1-over par, 73s on day. McGetrick tied for 19th with a total of 6-over par, 222, while James finished tied for 60th with three-day total of 16-over par, 232.
Junior Ana Menendez carded a four over par, 76 in the final round and her classmate Brittany Marchand posted a 5-over par, 77, on the final day. Menendez tied for 32nd with a 9-over par, 225, while Marchand tied for 38th with a 11-over par, 227.
"As a team, we had our best round of the tournament," said head coach Page Marsh, "but other teams played better today. We had great stretches on the course today. We just need to keep working on our course management and our short games to find a few more shots."
Marsh also noted that she is seeing continued improvement from every member of her team in all aspects of their respective games.
"I'm proud of everyone's dedication to keep improving their games overall," Marsh said.
Host North Carolina claimed the team title with a 3-over par, 872.
NC State plays its final event of the fall when it travels to Wilmington, N.C., for the Landfall Tradition (Oct. 26-28) at the par-72, 6,208-yard Country Club of Landfall.
