James, Choi And Team Canada In Fifth After Day One Of Copa de las Americas

Miami - NC State golfers Augusta James and Albin Choi helped lead Team Canada to fifth place in the standings after the first round of Copa de las Americas at the par-72 TPC Blue Monster Course at Doral Golf Resort & Spa.
Both James and Choi carded four-over par 76s on the day as the four-person Canadian team shot a 12-over par 300.
In the women's competition, James and her playing partner, Brooke Henderson, are tied for first with Argentina with a 147. Henderson shot a 71 in the first round.
Choi and his teammate, Corey Conners, are in eighth after one day with a combined score of 153, 12 shots off the pace of first place Columbia men's tandem.
Argentina leads the overall team competition with 293, followed by Columbia and the United States (295) and Mexico (298).
The 2013 Copa de las Americas, conducted by the Americas Golf Association and hosted by the United States Golf Association, is a team event for amateurs in North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. It consists of three 72-hole stroke-play competitions - overall, men and women - and the competitions end on Sunday.
