March 28, 2013
RALEIGH – The 23rd-ranked NC State women’s golf team is one of eight top-25 teams participating in this weekend’s 16th annual Bryan National Collegiate. The three-day tournament starts Friday at the par-72, 6,386-yard Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center’s Champions Course in Greensboro.
This is the Wolfpack’s 13th straight year competing in the event. Last year, State finished in 14th place with a 48-over 912. Sophomore Augusta James was the Pack’s top individual with a 7-over 223 tally to tie for 16th.
The other ranked squads in the 18-team field are No. 2 Duke, No. 5 Florida, No. 6 Arkansas, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 15 Virginia and No. 19 Georgia.
NC State head coach Page Marsh says the Bryan National field and course offers a great tune up for the ACC Tournament and NCAA Regional play.
“The course is a championship venue,” Marsh said. “Traditionally this tournament has had a great field and this is an event to help our team build momentum heading into the ACC Championship.”
The Wolfpack is coming off of a 10th-place finish at the LSU Golf Classic with a three-round 66-over 930 tally. Junior Ana Menendez was the top finisher, tying 16th with a 12-over 228.
Friday’s tee times start at 8:20 a.m. Fans can follow the tournament via live stats on Golfstat.com.
