Wolfpack Aims This Week For National Title
May 19, 2014
TULSA, Okla. - For the second time in three years, the NC State women's golf team is playing for a national championship. Head coach Page Marsh and the Wolfpack are in Tulsa, Okla., for the 2014 NCAA Women's Golf Championship May 20-23.
The Wolfpack, which placed third at the ACC tourney at the end of April, tied with ACC champion Duke for third place at the NCAA East Regional in Florida two weeks ago. Eight teams from each of the three regional tournaments advanced to this week's national final at Tulsa Country Club.
The Wolfpack will begin the tournament teeing off at the tail end of the afternoon wave, hitting alongside California and Oklahoma. NC State is one of just three ACC teams to have advanced to Tulsa, along with Duke and Virginia.
NC State is coming off its best team round of the season, which came at the NCAA Regional on May 10. Augusta James, Brittany Marchand and Lindsay McGetrick each fired a 69 on the final day to lift the Pack up the standings. NC State would post a total team score of 280, its best round of the season.
