Three NC State Golfers In Action At The Women's U.S. Amateur

Three NC State women's golfers are still in the hunt for a top finish following the first round of stroke play Monday at the 102nd U.S. Women's Amateur at the 6,190-yard, par-71 Sleepy Hollow Country Club.
Newcomer Courtney Pomeranz, a junior transfer from UNC-Wilmington, finished the round with a 78 on Monday, the lowest of the three Wolfpack participants. Before making the turn, the Sanford native shot a 37 on the front nine. Pomeranz qualified for the tournament in Greensboro in July.
Junior Sarah Davis, who hails from Raleigh, also qualified at the Greensboro site finished the first round with a score of 85.
Junior Briana Vega, a transfer from UNC-Greensboro, carded a round of 85. The North Andover, Mass. native qualified for the Amateur at the Segregansett Country Club in Taunton, Mass.
The women will continue play on Tuesday. The top 64 players will advance to match play, which will conclude on Saturday.
