No. 12 Wolfpack Ready For Landfall Tradition This Weekend
Oct. 23, 2013
WILMINGTON, N.C. - The 12th-ranked NC State women's golf team will close its fall tournament schedule this weekend when it plays at the Landfall Tradition event, hosted by UNC Wilmington at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course. Play begins Friday, Oct. 25 at 8:30 a.m.
NC State recently climbed to 12th in the Golf World/WGCA poll, its highest ranking in school history. The Wolfpack had top five finishes at the Cougar Classic and Mason Rudolph Invitational in September before placing 12th at a tournament at North Carolina two weeks ago. Additionally, NC State is ranked 16th by GolfStat.com.
The Landfall tourney field features 12 nationally-ranked teams in its 18-team field. In addition to 12th-ranked NC State, four of the Golf World/WGCA poll's top 10 (Oklahoma State, Duke, Alabama and Arizona) will be competing. Other ranked teams include ACC schools Clemson (13th), North Carolina (15th) and Virginia (25th).
NC State is making its eighth appearance at the Landfall, and has been in the top 10 in the standings there in each of the past two seasons. The Pack tied for seventh last year and tied for eighth in 2011. Oklahoma State is the event's defending champion.
This tournament concludes the fall portion of NC State's 2013-14 schedule. The Wolfpack will return to action in February when it plays at Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
