Watkins' Performance Highlight Meet Against Missouri

RALEIGH, N.C. - Sophomore Brittni Watkins of the NC State gymnastics team finished with a career-best score of 39.425 to win the all-around competition on Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack defeated visiting Missouri, 194.675-194.525.
"Brittni Watkins is just having a phenomenal year," said head coach Mark Stevenson. "She has had four meets now with over a 39.400 and that is awesome. She is doing everything we ask of her and doing it at an extremely high level."
The Pack opened the meet on vault, as Watkins led the squad with a score of 9.825 and a second place finish. Seniors Stephanie Ouellette and Diahanna Ham tied for third with a score of 9.800, while Hannah Fallanca and Naomi DeVries finished with a 9.725. The Wolfpack finished with a team score of 49.025 on the event for its highest score at home this season.
State next moved to the uneven parallel bars and was led by Watkins and Ouellette who each posted a score of 9.850 to finish first on the podium. Freshman Courtney Bisbe also scored a 9.800 to finish third, as the squad posted a 48.825 on the event.
At the midway point of the meet, the Wolfpack led Missouri, 97.850-97.475.
On the third rotation of the evening, State moved to the balance beam where the team finished with a 48.900 on the apparatus. Junior Lane Jarred finished with a team-best score of 9.825, while Watkins and Ouellette each posted scores of 9.800. In addition, Fallanca scored a 9.775 on her routine and Kristen Harabedian finished with a score of 9.700.
The Wolfpack concluded the evening on the floor exercise, where Watkins once again led the squad and tied her career-best score of 9.900 to finish first overall. Harabedian and Jarred each posted a score of 9.825 to finish second overall. As a group, State finished with a 47.925.
In the all-around competition, Watkins posted a career-best mark of 39.425 to finish first overall. Her mark in the all-around ranks as tied for the 10th best score in program history.
