Panza Shines on Senior Night with Three Podium Finishes

RALEIGH, N.C.-- The 21st-ranked NC State gymnastics team finished the regular season home schedule in grand fashion on Friday, defeating William & Mary 195.500- 191.225. The Wolfpack swept the awards on vault, bars, beam, and floor.
Senior Jess Panza collected three podium finishes for the first time this season in her final regular season home meet. Panza finished first on beam, second on bars, and third on floor to lead the Wolfpack past the William & Mary Tribe.
For the third straight meet and eighth time this season, NC State sophomore Diahanna Ham turned in a score of 9.8 or better on vault. Ham claimed first on vault for the sixth time this season with a score of 9.850. Fellow sophomore Stephanie Ouellette finished just hundredths behind Ham with a 9.775, which was good for second. Senior Alex Williams and junior Morgan Johnson both recorded 9.75s to take third, while senior Brooke Barr and sophomore Hannah Fallanca scored 9.725s.
On bars, sophomore Stephanie Ouellette led the way a 9.800, good for first place in the event. Junior Rachel Fincham claimed second with a 9.775. Senior Jess Panza tied for third with a 9.750 in the event. Senior Alex Williams finished with a 9.725.
After the first two events, NC State led William & Mary 97.575-96.625, a margin of .95. The Wolfpack continued to build on that lead throughout the second half of the meet on beam and floor.
Senior Jess Panza paced the Wolfpack on beam claiming first place with a 9.850, while Lane Jarred and Hannah Fallanca took second and third with scores of 9.825 and 9.800, respectively. Stephanie Ouellette recorded a 9.750 in the event and Diahanna Ham finished slightly behind Ouellette with a 9.725.
The Pack closed out the night on floor posting a team score of 48.975 on floor. Stephanie Ouellette lead the way with a 9.850 good for first in the event. Senior Jess Panza and sophomore Diahanna Ham tied for second in the event with 9.8s. Freshman Lane Jarred scored a 9.775, while senior Anna Kronenfeld recorded a 9.750.
Sophomore Stephanie Ouellette finished first in the all- around with a score of 39.175.
NC State will return to action Sunday March 11 as they will travel to No. 5 Georgia for a meet at 2:30 p.m. in Athens, Ga.
