Wolfpack Finishes in Fourth at EAGL Championships

Complete Results in PDF Format NC State will now look ahead to the NCAA Regionals set for April 9. After a bye for the first rotation, the Wolfpack began the 2005 EAGL Championship on the floor. Two freshmen led the way for NC State. Kelsey Lee recorded a team-high 9.825, while Heather Zolton posted a 9.8. Lee's score marked the third time this season she has been awarded a score of 9.825 or greater. Zolton was equally successful, earning her second 9.80 mark or higher in her first EAGL championship.
In the fourth rotation, NC State's Zolton again led the way. She posted a career-high of 9.825 on the vault. She bested a previous score of 9.8 she earned against No. 8 Georgia on March 4. Senior Cori Goldstein also tallied a career-high score of 9.75, topping her previous personal best of 9.725, which she posted at the Governor's Cup on Feb. 5. The Wolfpack was in third place after its first two events with a score of 97.525, behind North Carolina's high of 98.00 and West Virginia's second place tally of 97.775. Zolton, who was among NC State's leaders the entire meet, posted a team-best 9.80 on the uneven bars. The score marked the fifth time in her frosh campaign in which she has finished with a 9.80 or higher in the event. After three events, NC State held third place with a running score of 146.175. UNC remained on top with 147.10 and West Virginia stood in second with a 146.45 score. In the final event for the Pack, the balance beam, NC State freshman Leigha Hancock posted her best score since the Hearts Invitational, with 9.80, where she finished with a 9.85. Sophomore Ananda Jones posted her best score since the Hearts Invitational, with a 9.80, where she finished with a 9.85. NC State had byes for the first, third, fifth and seventh rotations. The Wolfpack had to compete without sophomore Rachel Katz and freshman Laurie Singer, both were out due to injuries. Katz, a Bloomington, Ind. native, is the team leader in the vault, posting three season highs.
