Jan. 11, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State gymnastics team is set to open its 2014 campaign Sunday, Jan. 12 at North Carolina. The meet is slated for a 2 p.m. start time inside Carmichael Arena.
“We’re going to put up a good team and we have a great bunch of kids who have worked hard to get to this point,” said head coach Mark Stevenson. “We’ve had several injuries, but we’ll come out of the gate to the best of our ability with the kids that we have available for this meet.”
The Wolfpack will open the meet on the uneven parallel bars, before moving to vault. In the second half of the meet, the Pack will compete on the floor exercise and conclude the afternoon on beam.
The 2013 EAGL champions return a senior laden lineup comprised of six seniors, including All-EAGL performers Stephanie Ouellette, Diahanna Ham and Hannah Fallanca. In addition, the team returns sophomore Michaela Woodford, the 2013 EAGL Rookie of the Year, as well as first-team All-EAGL performer Brittni Watkins.
“I feel really good about where we are going, but our job is to focus on ourselves and to put up the best kids and best skills we can in order to be successful,” Stevenson said.
