Feb. 14, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State gymnastics team will host its annual Sweetheart Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m., inside Reynolds Coliseum. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and feature teams from the University of North Carolina, William & Mary and George Washington, along with the Wolfpack.
“We’re looking forward to hosting North Carolina, William & Mary and George Washington in the Sweetheart Invitational tomorrow,” said head coach Mark Stevenson. “We hope to have a good crowd on hand and our kids are looking forward to competing in this meet.”
State will open the meet on vault, before moving to the uneven parallel bars. In the second half of the meet, the Pack will compete on the balance beam and conclude the evening on the floor exercise.
The Pack returns to action after competing in Denver against the University of Denver and Southern Utah last Saturday. In the meet, sophomore Brittni Watkins posted a 9.900 for the second straight meet on the floor exercise to finish first overall. Junior Lane Jarred tied her career-best in the event with a 9.850 to finish third overall.
All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink to the meet to raise awareness for breast cancer. In addition, pink pom-poms will be available to the first 500 fans in attendance.
Admission prices for the event will be $5 for adults (18 & older), $3 for senior citizens (65 & older) and free for children (17 & under).
Fans not able to attend the meet can follow the action on ESPN3 or with the live stats link, available here. In addition, fans can follow the action on Twitter by following @PackGymnastics.
