    Gymnastics Second at EAGL Championships

DURHAM, N.H. - NC State gymnastics finished second at the 2010 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships Saturday afternoon. Despite being just fifth after two events, the Wolfpack rallied to rank third after three and then finished second after the final rotation with a team score of 195.700.

Senior Taylor Seaman went out in style in her last EAGL Championship, earning co-champion honors on vault, floor and the all-around. She is the first NC State gymnast to win multiple titles in the same championship, and her four career-titles in a school record.

Sophomore Brooke Barr tied with Seaman on floor for her first EAGL title.

The Pack scored a 49.300 on floor and a 49.050 on vault to close the meet and nearly complete an amazing come-from-behind victory. The Pack scored a 49.050 on bars and a 48.375 on beam. It marked the first time all season that the Pack scored a 49 or higher on three or more events.

The second-place finish was the fourth runner-up spot in school history to go along with four team titles. In the last five EAGL Championships, NC State has done no worse than second, winning a pair of titles (2007 & 2009).

The Pack opened on bars, scoring a season-high 49.050. Seaman scored a team-high 9.85 to finish tied for fourth. Senior Lauren Deuser and sophomore Jess Panza tied for seventh with a score of 9.825.

On beam, Brittany Vontz and Jess Panza scored 9.725 to lead the team.

Floor posted its best performance of the season and the 13th-best score in school history with 49.300. Seaman and Barr scored 9.925 to win the event, and Panza tied for third with a 9.875.

The team finished on vault, and chipped in another season-high with a 49.050. Seaman again tied for first, scoring a 9.9. Barr tied for fourth with a 9.85.

In the all-around, Seaman scored a 49.325 to tie for first in the event and extend her school record to 17 scores of 49.000+ in the all-around. Her two 9.9+ scores in the meet gave her 15 for her career, fourth all-time.

North Carolina won the team title with a 196.025.
