Gymnastics Primed for NCAA Regional Saturday
April 6, 2013
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The NC State women's gymnastics team will compete in the NCAA Regional of the 2013 National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships, Saturday, April 6. The Wolfpack will participate in the Columbus, Ohio regional hosted by The Ohio State University with the meet slated to begin at 6 p.m. inside St. John Arena.
Also appearing in the six-team regional will be Arizona, Central Michigan, LSU and UCLA, along with host Ohio State.
There will be six regionals held across the country and every team will be hoping to finish first or second, which will guarantee a spot in the NCAA Gymnastics Championships, April 19-21, at the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, Calif.
The top two all-around competitors, along with the event winners from each regional, will also receive an automatic bid if they are not already on one of the teams advancing to the championships round.
NC State will begin the meet on balance beam and then have a bye before competing on floor exercise and vault. The Pack will then have another bye followed by competition on the uneven parallel bars to close out the day.
Last season, the Wolfpack finished third in its regional, narrowly missing a trip to the NCAA Championships. Senior Rachel Fincham qualified as an individual after winning the title on the uneven bars at the regional.
Admission prices for the event are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62 & up) and students (under 18). Tickets may also be purchased at a group rate for $5 with 20 or more people. Tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE or by calling 1-800-GOBUCKS.
