    Gymnastics Holds Intrasquad Meet

    Nov. 7, 2012

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's gymnastics team held its first intrasquad meet of the season Tuesday, Nov. 6 in the team's practice facility. The intrasquad meet resembled a standard meet with similar warm-up times and event rotations.

The team was broken up into two squads: red and white. The gymnasts competed in the meet as if it was official, including wearing meet attire (leotards).

"I thought the competition went great," said head Mark Stevenson. "The kids all stepped up to the plate and did a really nice job. Overall it was a really good performance and I'm pleased with where they are right now. This intrasquad meet lets the kids see where they are and what they need to work on and where we need to progress."

    Quotes from the student-athletes

    Senior Morgan Johnson
"There were a little bit of nerves, but it's good to get that out early before the actual meets start in January, so we won't have that kind of shakiness."

    Junior Hannah Fallanca
"Today was so much fun. It was great to see everyone in the meet setting and cheering. I'm so proud of everyone. It felt just like an actual meet."

    Junior Diahanna Ham
"Today went pretty well. We still have some things that we need to polish up, but I think we look good for how early it is in the season."

    Freshman Brittni Watkins
"It was unbelievable. It was very nerve-wracking, but I just did my routines and tried to stay calm, cool and collected."
