AUSTIN, Texas - NC State women’s soccer earned a thrilling 1-0 victory over Texas at the Longhorns’ Mike A. Myers Stadium Friday night behind Jessica Baity’s first career goal.

The Wolfpack (1-2) battled through 83 scoreless minutes before Baity found the back of the net on a deep shot following a clearance. State salted away the final moments to secure the 1-0 win.

Goalkeeper Victoria Hopkins contributed her first career shutout to preserve the victory, saving three shots in the effort. The Pack defense did a tremendous job as well, thwarting 10 Longhorn shots while allowing only three to reach the goal.

State managed to put a pair of shots on goal during the evening. The first opportunity came from Sharon Wojcik in the 54th minute, but the Pack didn’t break through until Baity’s strike in the 84th.

The win evens the all-time series between NC State and Texas to 2-2-0, and represents the first Wolfpack win over the Longhorns since a 1-0 decision in Austin in 1984.

The Pack completes its roadtrip on Sunday, August 26 at LSU. Sunday’s game kicks off at 2 p.m. ET. Fans can follow Twitter updates from @PackWSoccer, and live stats will be available at GoPack.com.
