RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State received little resistance from Elon Sunday afternoon in a 3-0 victory that marked the clubs fourth-straight win of the season.
Three players - Jennie Krauser, Rachel Harris and Sharon Wojcik - each scored for the first time in 2012 to account for the tallies on a hot, sticky and sometimes wet afternoon in Raleigh.
Krauser picked up right where she left off Friday showing an aggressive from that resulted in her scoring in the eighth minute with a blast from just outside the 18-yard box. Sophomore Shelli Spamer earned her team-topping third assist on the play.
State maintained that 1-0 lead into halftime, but had a dominating 12-1 advantage in shot attempts.
Harris, who sat out all of her true freshman season in 2011 with an injury, scored her first collegiate goal in the 49th minute when she headed in a cross from Cheyenne Spade. Wojcik also picked up an assist on the play.
A little over 10 minutes later, Wojcik called her own number when she weaved through the Phoenix defense and unleashed a left-footed strike that sailed over the goalie and into the net for her first goal as well in a Wolfpack uniform.
Victoria Hopkins made two saves to earn her second clean sheet of the season. NC State is now given up just one goal in the last four matches, after allowing five in the opening two contests of the season.
Elon (1-3-1) keeper Kate Murphy made two saves in 63:45, before giving way to Shannon Cosgrove, who hauled in three saves.
NC State (4-2) hosts Appalachian State next Friday at 7 p.m., before going on the road Sunday for a matchup with Kansas in Lawrence beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
