RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State lost 3-0 to No. 5 Duke in Atlantic Coast Conference women's soccer action Thursday night from Dail Soccer Field.
The Blue Devils were able to break a scoreless tie in the late stages of the first half when Cassie Pecht tipped in a shot off a cross from Mollie Pathman at the 36:36 mark.
NC State (5-10, 0-6 ACC) had four shots in the first half, including one each from freshmen Sharon Wojcik and Shannon Colligan that were hauled in by Duke keeper Tara Campbell.
Duke (11-3-1, 5-2-1 ACC) finally got a little breathing room midway through the second half when Laura Weinberg beat NC State goalie Madison Shaw with a low shot for her team-leading 15th goal of the season.
Katie Trees added her fifth of the year in the 86th minute for the Blue Devils.
Shaw made seven saves for the Wolfpack.
NC State hits the road for the next three games, beginning with Boston College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
