RALEIGH, N.C. - Morgan Brian scored in the 99th minute to send No. 8 Virginia over NC State in ACC women's soccer action Thursday evening from Dail Soccer Field.
Virginia improves to 10-3-2, 4-2-1 in the ACC, while the Wolfpack falls to 9-5-2 on the season, and 0-4-2 in the ACC.
The Cavaliers had a majority of the good scoring opportunities during the game, but State keeper Kim Kern was up to the task making six saves on the evening.
Her best came at the 74:00 mark when she made a diving stop on Virginia's leading scorer Caroline Miller.
Meagan Proper and Julia Sandridge each put one shot on net for the Wolfpack.
The game winner was a controversial one that saw the referees gather to make sure it wasn't an offside call on the Cavaliers. After a few seconds the decision was made to award the goal to Brian.
Lauren Alwine slipped a pass to Brian and she scored her fourth goal of the season at 99:02.
The Wolfpack hosts Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.
