GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three NC State women's soccer players were named to the sport's All-ACC Academic Team on Friday.
Red-shirt junior Meagan Proper, red-shirt sophomore Jennie Krauser and freshman Caroline Gentry are all named to the league's academic team for the first time.
Proper, a team captain in 2012, was the only Wolfpack player to start all 19 games last fall. She began the season at her customary forward position, but switched to defender by the third game of the year, sparking a five-game winning streak, including road victories at Texas and LSU. Proper also takes a majority of the clubs corner kicks, and finished last year with two assists.
Krauser returned from a knee injury that forced her to miss the entire 2011 season. She wound up leading the team in scoring in 2012 with 12 points on five goals and a pair of assists. Two of her markers were game winners.
Gentry, an All-American in high school, produced two goals and two assists for six points in her first season in Raleigh. She started 11 games and played in 17 matches overall.
To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
NC State, under the leadership of head coach Tim Santoro, will host its second spring match of the 2013 season on March 16 against High Point at 2 p.m., from Dail Soccer Field.
