RALEIGH, N.C. - Six student-athletes representing the NC State women's soccer program will graduate this Saturday during ceremonies at PNC Arena beginning at 9 a.m.
The soccer six pack includes fifth-year senior Alex Berger (psychology), along with four-year players Kristina Argiroff (business administration), Tanya Cain (accounting), Paige Dugal (biological sciences-human biology), Jordan Edwards (business administration) and Kim Kern (sport management).
Successful on-and off the playing field, this group is the winningest class at State in the last seven years, and combined to play in nearly 400 games and make well over 300 starts for the Wolfpack.
But arguably the most significant statistic you can pin to this group is the 3.5 combined grade-point-average these six outstanding student-athletes compiled during their time in Raleigh.
This group has earned numerous academic awards over the last four years - highlighted by Cain's ACC postgraduate scholarship that was given to the Pinebluff, N.C., native back in February.
Cain was a three-time ACC All-Academic Team selection, and also earned Academic All-District honors on three occasions as well.
Kern not only finished among the top goalkeepers in school history, but she also earned a pair of ACC All-Academic Team selections, was a NSCAA Scholar All-Region selection in 2010 and
Dugal was a first team Academic All-District selection in 2009, earned a spot on the NSCAA Scholar All-Region Team in 2010 and was on the ACC All-Academic Team on three occasions.
Edwards earned Dean's list distinction all seven semesters, and landed on the ACC Honor Roll three times.
Berger is a two-time ACC Honor Roll selection and twice made the Dean's List.
All together, the six combined for 28 semesters on the Dean's List, and 17 ACC Honor Roll citations.
The graduates also played a vital role in the team earning both the Team/Ethics/Sportsmanship Award and the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association.
