RALEIGH – Two NC State women’s soccer student athletes are gaining valuable playing experience in the Caribbean this summer, as Alexa Allen and Gladys Loyas are currently competing in the 2014 Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Women’s Caribbean Cup.
Loyas, representing the Dominican Republic, was part of a 7-0 win over St. Lucia in Group Five action on Wednesday. She and her team will next be in action on Sunday, June 22 against Jamaica at 4 p.m.
Allen, a transfer from Auburn University, is representing Jamaica today in its opening match. Jamaica will take on Saint Lucia at 4 p.m. before playing Loyas and the Dominican Republic June 22 at 4 p.m.

As a freshman (2013): Appeared in 15 matches, making eight starts ... Earned the first start of her career in the win over East Tennessee State (Sept. 1) ... Recorded seven total shots on the year, two of which were on target ... Fired a career-high three shots in the win over East Tennessee State ... Registered at least one shot in four separate matches ... Played 904 minutes on the year, or an average of 60 per appearance.

2012 at Auburn: Came off the bench in all 25 matches ... Finished tied for fourth on the team in goals (3) and fifth in points (9) ... 43 shots were fourth on the team ... Put 23 on frame (.535 SOG%) ... Took three shots - two on goal - in the 1-0 NCAA Tournament Second Round loss at No. 2 BYU (11/15) ... Took two shots in the 2-1 NCAA Tournament First Round win at Washington (11/9), putting one on frame ... Had the second assist on Tatiana Coleman's goal in the 64th minute of the 2-0 SEC Tournament semifinal win over No. 12 Texas A&M (11/2) ... Had the first multi-assist match of her career in the 4-3 double OT win over Alabama (10/25), collecting the second assist on Mary Coffed's goal in the 27th minute and then playing give-and-go with Tatiana Coleman in the 32nd minute for a 3-0 Auburn lead ... Scored in the 71st minute of the 2-0 win over Mississippi State (10/5) ... Scored her second goal of the season in the loss at #8 Pepperdine (8/24), finishing a Natalie Donaldson cross that Tatiana Coleman one-touched to her in the 55th minute ... Scored her first career goal in the 63rd minute of the win over High Point (8/19) ... It was unassisted.
NC State opens the 2014 season with a home exhibition against Appalachian State on Aug. 13. The Wolfpack will then host UNC-Wilmington on Aug. 22 for its first official match of the season.
