Aug. 4, 2014
RALEIGH – While the vast majority of her teammates will be in Raleigh during the early part of August to begin preparations for the 2014 season, incoming freshman Franziska Jaser of the NC State women’s soccer team will be traveling between major Canadian cities as she represents Germany at the 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Jaser and her German teammates will open play at the tournament in a highly-anticipated match against the United States in Edmonton on Tuesday, Aug. 5 (7 p.m. ET on ESPNU). The team will then take on China on Aug. 8 (7 p.m. ET) and travel to Montreal on Aug. 12 (4 p.m. ET) to round out play in the group stage against Brazil.
Should Germany finish among the top two teams in Group B against the likes of the United States, China, and Brazil, Jaser and her teammates will advance to the quarterfinal round (Aug. 16-17).
The 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Final will bring the tournament to a close on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
NC State’s first session of training camp is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6. The Wolfpack opens the 2014 season with a home exhibition against Appalachian State on Aug. 13 and then will host UNC-Wilmington on Aug. 22 for its first official match of the season.
